Amour unit Deux cœurs
This award-winning small book, which could also resemble a small jewellery box, presents all the miniatures from the Henry Lönnfors miniature collection donated to the Turku Art Museum. In addition to articles in Finnish and Swedish, the publication includes an English summary.
The turquoise blue velvet chosen for the book cover pays homage to the distinguished collector Lönnfors, who stored his collection in a velvet-lined box. The text on the cover and the book's ends features gold foiling.
The pattern on the book's endpapers is inspired by a design in one of the miniatures. This pattern has been extended and modified to cover the entire spread.
Initially, I was looking for ivory-shade paper for the book. When a suitable option was unavailable, I solved the problem by using a soft colour tone on the picture pages. In this way, the images' white remains true to the paper's white, and the picture pages stand out from the white text pages.

Vuoden kauneimmaksi kirjaksi vuonna 2009 valittu kirja esittelee Turun taidemuseolle lahjoitetun Henry Lönnforsin kokoelman miniatyyrit. Julkaisu sisältää suomen- ja ruotsinkielisten artikkelien lisäksi englanninkielisen tiivistelmän.
Kirjan kanteen valittu turkoosinsininen sametti on kunnianosoitus Lönnforsille, joka säilytti kokoelmaansa sametilla vuoratussa laatikossa. Kannen otsikko ja kirjan päädyt on folioitu. Kirjan esilehtien kuvio on saanut inspiraationsa yhden kokoelman miniatyyrin taustakuviosta.
Amour unit Deux cœurs: Henry Lönnfors's Miniature Collection was chosen by the Finnish Book Art Committee as the most beautiful book of 2009.
The jury describes the work as follows:
“A miniature beauty that charms immediately. If you dare to touch it, you can feel the softness of the turquoise, and if you glance at the pages of the book, the brilliance of the gold dazzles. The designer has used the old and new methods of book art skillfully and with emotion. The result is a delicate gem of book art, created on the terms of miniature art. The subtly tinted backgrounds in the miniature presentations and the classically beautiful typography attract special attention. The composition's excellent balance and harmony is a testament to the designer's skill.”

Suomen kirjataiteen komitea valitsi kirjan Amour unit deux cours - Henry Lönnforsin miniatyyrikokoelma, Henry Lönnfors miniatyrsamling kirjataiteen vuoden kauneimmaksi kirjaksi vuonna 2009.
Tuomariston arviointiperusteet:
“Pienikokoinen kaunotar, joka hurmaa heti. Jos uskaltaa koskettaa, tuntee turkoosin pehmeyden, ja jos vilkaisee kirjan sivuja, niin kullan loisto häikäisee. Suunnittelija on käyttänyt kirjataiteen vanhat ja uudet keinot taitavasti ja eläytyen. Tuloksena on miniatyyritaiteen ehdoilla toteutettu herkkä kirjataiteen helmi. Erityistä huomiota kiinnittävät hienostuneesti sävytetyt taustat miniatyyrien esittelyissä ja klassisen kaunis typografia. Sommittelu on kauttaaltaan erinomainen. Esimerkillisen kaunis on aukeama, jossa esitellään tuntemattoman taiteilijan ”Sisarukset” (akvarelli ja guassi norsunluulle). Siinä sivun kokoiseksi suurennetun miniatyyrin kautta voimme itse kukin astua taiteen ihmeelliseen maailmaan.”
